1. Prohibited activity
You may not use the UrbanLink Network to:
- break any South African law or infringe anyone’s rights;
- download, share or distribute material that infringes copyright or other intellectual-property rights (including pirated media and software);
- access, store or distribute content that is unlawful, including child sexual abuse material — which we will report to the authorities;
- gain or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, network or account (hacking), or scan, probe or test the vulnerability of systems without authorisation;
- send spam or unsolicited bulk messages, or operate phishing or fraud schemes;
- distribute malware, viruses, ransomware or other harmful code;
- harass, threaten, defame or stalk others;
- circumvent or tamper with the captive portal, billing, security controls or your plan’s device limit;
- resell, redistribute or share the Service beyond your household or office, or beyond your plan’s permitted devices.
2. Fair use on “uncapped” plans
Our plans are uncapped, not unlimited-by-any-means. To protect the experience of everyone on the shared network, we apply reasonable network management. We may prioritise interactive traffic, and we may identify and manage usage that is abusive, automated, or so excessive that it degrades the service for others (for example, sustained high-volume traffic from a single account, or running public servers or commercial services on a residential plan). We will act proportionately and, where reasonable, contact you first.
3. How we enforce this policy
Depending on the severity of a breach, we may:
- warn you and ask you to stop;
- apply temporary traffic management or throttling;
- suspend your access;
- terminate your account; and/or
- report unlawful activity to the relevant authorities and cooperate with lawful investigations.
Serious or unlawful breaches may result in immediate suspension without prior notice. Suspension or termination for breach does not entitle you to a refund — see our Terms & Conditions.
4. Lawful interception (RICA)
As a provider of communications in South Africa, we comply with the Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act (RICA) and will assist lawful requests from authorities where legally required. How we handle your information generally is set out in our Privacy Policy.
5. Reporting abuse
To report misuse of the network, a security concern, or content that breaches this policy, email [email protected]. We investigate all reports.
